Monday July 22 - Voice Recording

Finished the background for the start menu and had Devin put it into the prototype. It looks amazing being able to see the working art work move smoothly. Im really happy with the progress we have been making.
Today we also worked on recording the voices for the characters in the game. We brought in Eric to do some voice acting for characters. The sound room was strange but it worked amazingly. Our recordings  will add one of the main elements into the game.

July Friday,19th - FInishing art for Area 3

Today I finsihed up the art for most of Area 3. I moved onto making the Logo and the start menu "Kettah" in photoshop.

Next week we start on Audio and the sound affects through the levels. We will record our voices of the phrases and come up with the translations for Monday morning, We've picked out some songs off of Devins computer of Bryan Hudson singing. These songs will be converted into 8Bit music and hopefully they will work for the game.

We're starting to get close to the end and the days are starting to flow into one another in terms of completing the tasks. We are moving along very quickly. We should have a completed full prototype by next week. I cant wait till the play testing.

Thursday July 18th, Working towards finishing sprint 2

I am now in charge of creating the Logo for the shoshone game, and also the start menu button. Im confident that both of these tasks should not pose to be difficult. Im enjoying the process of creating the art and then digitally filling it in with color and shading. I've completed a little of the art work from the next area today. Tomorrow by the end of the day both the logo and start button should be created.

July 16th and 17th - Working towards finishing sprint 2

Yesterday proved to be extremely productive. We put color onto many of the items and characters throughout area 2 and 3. I've gotten comfortable with photoshop and can run it and get what I need done without finding myself in a predicament in which I need Zeph's assistance.

Today we worked on putting more of the characters in the game and had run across the problem of them not being clearly visible against the background because of the color contrast. We went back in and added auras around each character and item to help them become easier to see. I think that it looks really visually appealing. Im going to hopefully finish the rest of the characters for this sprint by this time tomorrow.
This game has become a strangely calming center in our hectic schedule. I find myself excited to complete the tasks I am assigned and am satisfied with the reward of feeling accomplished after every piece of art work is approved.

Monday July 15th - End of sprint 1, Beginning Sprint 2, Post Mortem

Today marks the completion of Sprint 1. We did very well in the fact that most everything that was assigned for sprint 1 was completed. We only have about Four things we need to finish but they are not extremely difficult to finish. We are moving at a comfortable speed but will need to do the same thing again for this next sprint. Hopefully sprint 2 will go as well as our last.
Today we are organizing our backlog for this next week. There will be more mechanics and art that will need creating. Im confident we will be able to move quickly since now everyone is comfortable with what their doing. There will be a lot of pressure on finishing areas 2 and 3 because they are much larger than area 1.
We also did a post mortem, this focuses one the positive and negative things that have happened over this last sprint. We then talk about the positive and negitive and how to navigate the ways to make the next sprint more productive. It is very useful because you are able to address things that you might normally wouldn't. I would say that today was a very productive day.

Friday July 12 2013 - Digitally Coloring Art

Yes! Just finished a ton of art for the game. Im excited to finish the first level. Everyones crunching to finish sprint one. This weekend I'm going to get all of the art done for area 1. This is exciting and really rewarding to be able to see how far we've come from the game just being a concept.
By Sunday this the level should be done. Crunch time!

Thursday July 11th 2013 - Video Game Digital Art

Last night brought a bit of attention to my animation skills, I absolutely love sketching and painting in photoshop but animating a single character from one piece of art is another subject. I think if I spend time working with the concept of making more sprites from one picture I could master it. Although we only have a small amount of time, so from now on I'll be doing mainly art in photoshop and Zeph will be cutting and cropping to make our characters move.
Today we finished the art for the main character today and the Kaku (Mukwip).
I've gotten better with the digital sketch pad and prefer it now over just my computers touch pad.
Tonight I'm going to work towards finishing the Cannibal Bird.

July 10th 2013 - Character Sprites

Today I learned a lot about photoshop and illustrator. Its been an experience, downloading illustrator caused some problems but I'll be using photoshop for now.
Zeph helped make a small sprite sheet for Devin to use as a prototype. Today is going to be another hectic day in terms of the art we have to do, but I cant wait to start on it. Im adoring the creativity. This is one of the times I really look forward to ducking out from the crowd and enjoy doing my homework!

YES! Finally finished the concept art for the Doc. I feel so much better having done that. I love this job so much, would definitely not mind this kind of pressure as a constant job. The feeling of accomplishment of this small feat is amazing. These guys are great, we have a great team.
Assigning new work for this week. Going to get started tonight and check with my dad about art. Wish us luck!

Monday July 8th - Finishing up Game Design Doc

Today we pitched our ideas to the other people working in EAE and they had very helpful comments and ideas. It is starting to get very intense with the fact that we only have a couple more weeks left to finish this game. Tonight we plan on finishing imputing the last concepts in our game design document.  Todays going to be a challenge but I cannot wait to start working on the actual mechanics in the game. Wish us luck!

July 3 2013 - Concept Art, Character Bio, Pitching the Game.

Finished some of the concept art for the game yesterday. I really enjoy the creativity this calls for. Being able to put faces and personalities to the characters and items in the game is a great deal of fun.
We were taught how to pitch a game to someone today. Hopefully I get better at this as time progresses and I get more practice. It went well though and we worked well together if any of us forgot something that was critical to explaining the game. Hopefully I'll be able to spend some time working over the weekend and figuring out more of the concept art for more items.

July 2nd 2013 - Concept Art

Today has been a very creative day in terms of the production of the video game. We have been assigned each Five characters of which we are to draw each of there actions. Today has also been my first time on a digital sketch pad. I find it to be very challenging as of now, but I hope to improve over the course of the project.
Working on each characters back story and listing their personality is quite a fun task. I like the idea of each of them having a back story just as they do in the old Shoshone tales.
First time drawing on digital sketch pad.

July 1st 2013 - Game Levels

Today our little team worked on creating and mapping out the levels and storyline of how the video game is going to progress. Work for this step is almost completed and we then can move on to the next step which will be actually making the model of the levels digitally.
Being able to set out the sheets of paper and place our characters on the map made the game seem more solid and playable. We've mapped out our interactive aspects of the game with poker chips and played though the areas that were set up as if it were a board game. Im extremely happy with all the progress we have made today. Working on this project is defiantly one of the most personally rewarding jobs I've had so far.
By getting so much done today I expect that tomorrow should be great. I'm very enthusicastic to begin working.

Friday June the 28th. Working on Storyline

Friday June 28
We've been making progress in working on the individual levels of the video game. The beginning and the end of how our story line is there. Now we have to fill in the middle, and begin on the mechanics of how we shall move around in this world.
This is the beginning of our tutorial/first level sketches.
I'm really excited to see how far we've gotten in just a couple days. Its amazing to me to be able to see it down on paper as opposed to just ideas in our heads.

Brainstorming

First day on the development of the Shoshone game. Learned new creative ways of brainstorming
